Mushbloom

The Round — a ruffled circle of skin-friendly mulberry silk with a tie through the middle. No elastic anywhere in it.

Forty minutes of somebody's day, spent going in a circle. A round is the hardest shape to reach by hand — nothing keeps the curve honest except the person holding it. This one gets very close, then stops. near-perfect is the whole flex

Final sale · Hygiene · No returns Worn first by you. Why

No piece is ever tried on, sent back and sent out again, so the one that reaches you has never been in anyone else's hair. That's why we can't take returns. If yours arrives damaged, write to us within 48 hours with a short video of the damage (preferred) or a few clear photos, and a new one is on its way. The small print

No elastic. Nothing to tire.

Elastic is the first thing to die in a hair tie — it goes soft, then it goes in the bin. Mushbloom has none. A tie passes through the opening in the centre and you knot it yourself: loose on a headache day, twice over on a day that has to hold. How the tie works

Why a hand-made round is the difficult one ↓

Mushbloom is a single round of mulberry satin silk, gathered into a ruffle and stitched closed along one continuous curve. The edge is piped by hand the whole way around in a cherry trim — the honest choice, because a contrast edge shows every wobble instead of hiding it.

  • 100% mulberry satin silk, skin-friendly and lab-tested — the round, the piped edge and the tie
  • Hand-stitched round — no machine, no template holding the curve
  • Ruffled body with a hand-piped contrast edge
  • Ties through the centre. No elastic, nothing to lose its stretch
  • About 40 minutes per piece, made by one artisan start to finish
  • Small batches, so no two rounds are identical twins
  • Thick, fine, curly or short hair — the knot does the adjusting

Custom sizes aren't available for Mushbloom.

Lab tests
Skin-friendly: tested by the Textiles Committee, Govt. of India, in September 2026. No banned azo dyes, formaldehyde not detectable, pH 7.31, colour-fastness 5 of 5 against sweat. Sample in Wildpetal's colour; same silk. Read the reports
  • Low, at the nape. Gather your hair, pass it through the centre, single bow. The everyday one.
  • Half-up. Take the top half only and knot it loosely — the ruffle sits open like a bloom.
  • High, twice over. Double knot at the crown for a bun that has to survive the day.

Snug, not tight. The cloth grips on its own — pulling harder only pulls your roots.

Mushbloom is made once you order. Yours is stitched after the order comes in, and it leaves us within 5 working days.

Free shipping across India on orders over ₹499. Once it leaves us: about 2 working days to the big metros, 4 working days to most other cities, and 6 working days everywhere else in India.

Outside India, 4–5 working days, tracked. Delivery is free over $50 in the US, £45 in the UK, €50 in Europe and US$50 elsewhere; below that it's $20, £16, €18 or US$20. If your country charges import duty, it's collected on delivery, not by us.

Each piece travels in a paper Moosi pouch. Keep it, gift it, regift it; the pouch doesn't mind.

Treat it like something someone made by hand, because someone did.

  • Hand wash in cool water with a mild soap — no soaking, no wringing
  • Press the water out in a towel, reshape the round while it's damp
  • Dry flat in the shade; heat and hanging both pull a round out of true
  • No bleach, no tumble dryer. Iron the ruffle only if you must, on low
  • If a stitch lifts, ease it back with a pin rather than cutting it

A small honest note — because each piece touches your hair and skin, we can't accept returns or exchanges, worn or unworn. Hair things are personal, and re-circulating them isn't fair to the next Creature.

Please pick mindfully — we keep the photos as honest as we can. If your piece arrives damaged in transit, write to us at moosi.care@gmail.com within 48 hours, with a short video of the damage (preferred) or a few clear photos, and we'll send a fresh one.

The Mushbloom round held against a pale dress: skin-friendly mulberry satin silk, gathered, with its hand-piped cherry edge
The silk

Mulberry satin silk. Skin-friendly, and lab-tested.

Mushbloom is cut from the same mulberry satin silk as Wildpetal: the round, the piped edge and the tie. We sent that silk to the Textiles Committee's laboratory, Govt. of India, and had it tested for what matters to skin.

Lab report · Sep 2026
Skin-friendly. Here's the lab report behind it.

Regional Laboratory, Textiles Committee — Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, Kolkata. Tested 11–21 September 2026.

  • Banned azo dyesNone found. All 24 banned amines the lab checks for came back under the 30 mg/kg limit. Not detected
  • FormaldehydeNone the test could detect. Not detectable
  • pHClose to neutral; 7 is neutral.7.31
  • Colour and sweatNo fading, and no colour running onto silk or cotton, in acidic or alkaline sweat.5 of 5
  • Colour and rubbingRubbed against white cotton: nothing dry, at most a faint trace wet.5 dry · 4–5 wet

What it adds up to: nothing harmful found, a near-neutral pH, and colour that stays in the silk. That's why we call it skin-friendly.

Grades run from 1 to 5, and 5 is the best a fabric can score. The lab tested a sample of this silk in Wildpetal's colour; Mushbloom is cut from the same silk in another colour. Reports TC/ST/CEO/282/2026-27 and TC/LC/ST/1008/2026-27, both dated 21 September 2026. Read both reports, and what each result means.

Close up of the round held in two hands: the gathered ruffle, the hand-piped cherry edge, the small stitches that turn the curve
The hard part

Anyone can stitch a line. A round has to be earned.

A straight seam forgives you. A circle does not. Every stitch has to turn by the same small fraction as the one before it, or the whole shape starts to lean — and there's no frame, no printed pattern, no machine keeping the curve honest. Just a hand deciding, a few hundred times over, how far to go before the next one.

So look closely. In places two stitches overlap. The curve dips by a hair where her hand paused. We could light that out of a photograph, and we won't — that overlap is the proof a person made this, and not a line of them.

~ the difference is about a millimetre. that millimetre is forty minutes long.

The round held open in a palm against a pale dress, its ruffle and cherry edge in full view
The fastening

A hole in the middle, and a knot you decide.

In the centre of the round there's an opening, and through it runs a soft tie. Gather your hair, pass it through, knot it where it feels right. Nothing here can lose its stretch, because nothing here stretches — a strange thing to boast about, until the third elastic of the year gives up on you.

01

Gather

Low, high or half-up — the round sits behind your hair, not inside it.

02

Pass it through

Take your hair through the centre the way you would a ribbon.

03

Knot it

Once for soft. Twice for a day that has plans. Snug, never tight.

~ no stretch to lose. no elastic to replace.

A Creature in yellow resting by a mountain river under prayer flags, the ruffled round tied in her hair
How it's made

Forty minutes. One pair of hands.

40minutes, start to end

No line, no stations, nobody passing a half-finished round down a table. One artisan starts it and one artisan finishes it — which is why they arrive in small numbers, and why each one carries the particular way its maker turns a curve.

01

The cut

The cloth is cut into a round. The first cut decides how honest every stitch after it can be.

02

The gather

Cloth eased into a ruffle by hand, a little at a time, until it sits evenly the whole way around.

03

The turn

One continuous curve, stitched without a template. The difficult part, and most of the forty minutes.

04

The edge

A cherry trim piped around the rim by hand — the part that shows, and shows everything.

05

The centre

The opening finished, the tie threaded through, the round pressed flat and folded into a paper pouch.

The making circle

Made by rural women artisans. Creatures, like you.

The circle sets its own hours. Each woman makes a whole piece — she isn't handed a step, she's handed a round — and it's finished, hers, before it's ever ours. Forty minutes of someone's morning, going round and round until it's true enough to send.

Every hair type welcome

Made for your hair. All of it.

No. 01

Thick & heavy

Knot it twice. The tie carries the weight instead of your roots, and the round spreads the load wide.

No. 02

Fine & slippery

Cloth grips where elastic slides. Tie it gently — the ruffle holds on its own, without pulling.

No. 03

Curly & coily

No teeth, no snag. It gathers curls without crushing the pattern out of them.

No. 04

Short & growing out

A low half-knot holds whatever length there is — and the round does the rest of the talking.

No rules in the forest

Low at the nape. Half-up. Or just carried all day.

Because it knots instead of stretching, there's no single correct position. Move the knot, move the whole look — nobody has to know it's the same round three days running.

Asked in the forest

The things people actually ask.

Short answers, true ones. If yours isn't here, write to us.

There's no elastic — how does it hold?

With a knot. A soft tie runs through the opening in the centre: gather your hair, pass it through, and knot it. Once for soft, twice for a day that has to hold. The cloth grips on its own, so it never needs to be tight.

Is Mushbloom skin-friendly? Has it been lab-tested?

Yes, it's skin-friendly silk. Mushbloom is 100% mulberry satin silk, piped edge and tie included, the same silk as Wildpetal.

That silk was tested in September 2026 by the Regional Laboratory of the Textiles Committee in Kolkata, part of the Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India: no banned azo dyes, no detectable formaldehyde, a near-neutral pH of 7.31, and colour that held 5 of 5 against sweat. The sample was in Wildpetal's colour; Mushbloom is the same silk in another colour. Read both reports.

How do I wear it?

Low at the nape with a single bow. Half-up with a loose knot, so the ruffle opens like a bloom. Or high, knotted twice, for a bun that has to survive the day.

Will it work on my hair?

Thick hair: knot it twice and the tie carries the weight. Fine hair: tie it gently — cloth grips where elastic slides. Curly hair: no teeth, no snag. Short hair: a low half-knot holds whatever length there is.

What size is it?

One round, one size — the knot does the adjusting, so it doesn't need a size chart. Custom sizes aren't made for this piece.

How do I wash it?

Hand wash in cool water with a mild soap — no soaking, no wringing. Press the water out in a towel, reshape the round while damp, and dry it flat in the shade; heat and hanging both pull a round out of true.

Who makes it?

One artisan, first stitch to last — about 40 minutes of her morning for each round.

Will mine look exactly like the photos?

Very close, not identical. Each one is made by hand, so in places two stitches overlap, or the curve dips by a hair where her hand paused — that's the part a machine can't copy. We keep the photos as honest as we can.

How long will it take to reach me?

Mushbloom is made once you order, so it leaves us within 5 working days. After that: about 2 working days to the big metros, 4 to most other cities, 6 everywhere else in India, and 4–5 working days outside India. You can check your own pincode on this page.

Shipping is free across India on orders over ₹499, and it travels in a paper Moosi pouch.

Do you ship outside India?

Yes. We ship to 28 countries, including the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, the UAE, Singapore, Japan and much of Europe. Delivery is tracked and takes 4–5 working days.

It's free on orders over $50 in the US, £45 in the UK, €50 in Europe and US$50 everywhere else; below that, it's $20, £16, €18 or US$20. Prices show in your currency, and checkout charges the same amount in Indian rupees (your bank converts it). If your country charges import duty, it's collected on delivery, not by us.

Can I return or exchange it?

No, and here's the honest reason: it's something that lives in your hair, and passing it on to the next Creature isn't fair to her. So please pick mindfully.

If yours arrives damaged, write to us at moosi.care@gmail.com within 48 hours of delivery, with a short video of the damage (preferred) or a few clear photos, and we'll send a fresh one.

Are the reviews on this page real?

Yes. Every review here comes from someone who bought this piece, and we copy them word for word. To write one on this site you sign in with the email you ordered with, and we read each one before it goes up. We don't hide the lukewarm ones.
