Skin-friendly mulberry silk charmeuse. The same silk we had tested by a Govt. of India lab. The report
One scrunchie, not a pack. On purpose. Why just one
Gathered by hand, by rural women artisans in India.

A soft cloud of mulberry silk charmeuse for buns and ponytails. It holds without biting, and slides out instead of pulling. for the bun you do without a mirror

Candy Pop is the big, puffy one in the Essentials: one scrunchie of 100% mulberry silk charmeuse, gathered by hand onto a soft elastic.

  • One scrunchie in the pouch, not a pack
  • Colours: Antique White and Hot Pink
  • For buns, high and low ponytails, thick or curly hair. One loop for thick hair, two for fine.
  • Silk slides instead of gripping, so it comes out without a tug
  • Made by hand in small batches, so the gathers sit a little differently from piece to piece

Fabric
100% mulberry silk charmeuse: the satin weave, in real silk. A natural protein fibre, glossy on one face, matte on the other

Tested by
Regional Laboratory, Textiles Committee — Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, Kolkata · September 2026

Results
Banned azo dyes: not detected (all 24 amines under 30 mg/kg) · Formaldehyde: not detectable · pH 7.31 · Colour-fastness to sweat: 5 of 5 · to rubbing: 5 dry, 4–5 wet

The small print
The lab tested a sample of this silk in Wildpetal's colour. Candy Pop is cut from the same silk; Antique White and Hot Pink are other colours, so the dye results speak for the colour tested. Reports TC/ST/CEO/282/2026-27 and TC/LC/ST/1008/2026-27, dated 21 September 2026, are on our Lab reports page.

Silk likes to be treated like hair, because it nearly is.

  • Hand wash on its own in cool water, 30°C at most
  • Use a pH-neutral, enzyme-free silk wash (enzymes digest silk)
  • Wash gently and rinse well; no soaking
  • Press the water out in a clean towel; never twist or wring
  • Dry flat in the shade, away from heat; sun fades silk
  • Let it dry completely before you wear it or put it away
  • No bleach, no tumble dryer. If it looks sleepy, a little steam wakes it up

Free shipping across India on orders over ₹499. Once it leaves us: about 2 working days to the big metros, 4 working days to most other cities, and 6 working days everywhere else in India.

Outside India, 4–5 working days, tracked. Delivery is free over $50 in the US, £45 in the UK, €50 in Europe and US$50 elsewhere; below that it's $20, £16, €18 or US$20. If your country charges import duty, it's collected on delivery, not by us.

Each piece travels in a paper Moosi pouch. Keep it, gift it, regift it; the pouch doesn't mind.

A small honest note — because each scrunchie touches your hair and skin, we can't accept returns or exchanges, worn or unworn. Hair things are personal, and re-circulating them isn't fair to the next Creature.

Please pick mindfully. If your piece arrives damaged in transit, write to us at moosi.care@gmail.com within 48 hours, with a short video of the damage (preferred) or a few clear photos, and we'll send a fresh one.

The everyday benefits

A little luxury, every day.

Thoughtful fabric, a shape that suits your routine, and care beyond the first wear.

  1. A Candy Pop silk scrunchie holding hair in place
    How it works

    Holds without the tug

Wide, soft gathers spread the hold, so your hair stays put without the tight squeeze of a thin band. Dermatologists warn that styles pulled tight, day after day, strain hair at the roots.

    See how it works ↓
  2. Close-up of the smooth silk on a Candy Pop scrunchie
    Feel it

    Slides out, doesn't snag

Silk is one long, smooth filament, so at the end of the day it slides out of your hair instead of catching on the way. Slip it over your wrist first and feel the difference.

  3. Smooth hair held by a Candy Pop silk scrunchie
    How it works

    Fewer flyaways than polyester

Hair and silk sit close together on the static scale; polyester sits far away. That’s why a polyester “satin” tie can leave a dry-day ponytail full of flyaways, and silk mostly doesn’t.

  4. Candy Pop silk scrunchies in Antique White and Hot Pink
    Lab-tested

    Kind to skin, and tested

A Government of India lab tested a sample of this silk: no banned azo dyes, no detectable formaldehyde and a near-neutral pH of 7.31. It sits on your wrist all day, so we checked.

  5. The soft sheen on Candy Pop silk scrunchies
    Look closer

    A soft, natural sheen

Each silk fibre is a rounded triangle that bends light softly instead of bouncing it straight back. So even a hairstyle done in a hurry looks finished.

What we don’t claim: that silk stops hair fall, mends damaged hair or suits every skin. We’d rather show you only what we can back up.

Why your hair notices

All day, on the same spot.

Shampoo, conditioner, serum, the odd salon day. All that care, and then a hair tie holds the same few strands for eight, ten, twelve hours. That spot is where hair takes the strain. Here's what changes when the tie is silk.

  1. A thin bandCandy Pop
    How it works

    Same hold, spread wider

A thin band squeezes one narrow ring of hair. Candy Pop's soft gathers hold over a much wider band, so each strand takes less of the pinch, and your bun still stays put.

  2. Illustration. Static changes with weather, season and hair.
    How it works

    Silk sits next to hair

Rub two materials together and charge jumps between them. The further apart they sit on this scale, the bigger the jump. Hair and silk are near neighbours; polyester sits far away, which is how a polyester “satin” tie fills a dry-day ponytail with flyaways.

  3. Cut through: the elastic sits inside a tube of silk.
    Feel it

    Only silk touches your hair

The elastic is wrapped all the way round in silk, so there's no bare rubber to catch. At night it slides out instead of tugging your hair along with it.

The American Academy of Dermatology suggests wearing hair loosely pulled back, with covered bands made for styling hair. A silk scrunchie is exactly that kind of band. Their tips ↗

Illustration of two hair strands up close: on the left, cuticle scales lifted and chipped by friction; on the right, smooth scales lying flat

More frictionscales lifted and chipped

Less frictionscales lying flat

Illustration, not a photo of anyone’s hair.
Less friction

Hair wears tiny scales. Silk lets them lie flat.

Every strand is wrapped in overlapping scales called the cuticle. Lying flat, they keep hair smooth and catch the light. Rubbed and tugged day after day, they lift and chip, and lifted scales snag, tangle and break more easily.

  1. Silk glides over hairIn friction tests at TRI Princeton, a hair research institute, silk slid over hair more easily than cotton. Less drag each time you tie up, turn your head or roll it off.
  2. For hair that’s been through a lotCurly, dry, coloured or heat-styled hair has scales that lift more easily. Those are the strands that feel a rough tie first.

No hair tie repairs damage that’s already there. Silk just takes one rough thing off the list.

What you’re holding.

  1. 100% mulberry silk charmeuse22 momme. Glossy on the outside, matte on the inside.
  2. Gathered by handSo the folds fall a little differently on every one.
  3. A soft elastic insideWrapped all the way round in silk, so only silk touches your hair.
  4. About 9 cm acrossLying flat, edge to edge.

Momme (mm) is how silk fabric is weighed, not its thickness in millimetres.

Drawing of a mulberry silk fibre: two fibroin strands in a sericin layer, and the rounded-triangle cross-section behind silk's lustre
Drawing, not to scale.
The glow

That soft glow? It’s the shape of the fibre.

Silk isn’t round. The silkworm spins each thread as two strands with rounded, triangle-like sides, a bit like tiny prisms. Light slips in, bends and comes back soft and pearly, so the sheen shifts as you move your head.

  1. Prisms, not rodsMost polyester is spun as smooth round rods. Light bounces straight off the top, so the shine sits on the surface: bright, flat, a little plastic.
  2. The gum comes off firstRaw silk wears a gum called sericin. It’s washed away before the silk is woven, leaving bare, smooth filaments to catch the light.
  3. Charmeuse shows its glossy faceCharmeuse is woven so long silk threads float on one side. That’s the glossy face you see on every gather.
Why just one

Yes, it's one. On purpose.

Scrunchies usually come by the dozen: a pack of polyester “satin” for less than one Candy Pop costs. We know. Candy Pop is one piece of real mulberry silk, gathered by hand. It isn't a smaller pack. It's a different thing that happens to be the same shape.

Candy Pop The pack
The cloth Candy Pop: 100% mulberry silk charmeuse: a protein fibre, like your hair The pack: Polyester “satin”: satin is only the weave, the fibre is plastic
Lab report Candy Pop: The same silk, tested by the Textiles Committee, Govt. of India The pack: Usually none to show
On your hair Candy Pop: Slides out instead of pulling The pack: Plastic warms against the skin and drags on the strand
Static Candy Pop: Silk sits near hair on the static scale: fewer flyaways The pack: Polyester sits far away: more static on dry days
Who makes it Candy Pop: Gathered by hand, by rural women artisans The pack: A machine line, by the thousand
Care Candy Pop: Hand wash in cool water. It’s silk, after all The pack: Into the machine with everything else
How many you need Candy Pop: One. The kind you look for when it goes missing. The pack: Twelve, so losing a few doesn't matter
What it costs ₹2,762 for one less, for all twelve

~ one you keep, over twelve you lose.

The results are for the silk sample we sent to the lab.
The silk

Mulberry silk charmeuse. Skin-friendly, and lab-tested.

Candy Pop is cut from the same mulberry silk charmeuse as Wildpetal. We sent that silk to the Textiles Committee's laboratory, Govt. of India, and had it tested for what matters to skin.

Satin is a weave, not a material, and most satin scrunchies are polyester. Ours is charmeuse, the satin weave in real mulberry silk: glossy on one face, matte on the other. Silk is a protein fibre, like your hair, so it slides instead of gripping. Sleep in it, if you like.

Lab report · Sep 2026
Skin-friendly. Here's the lab report behind it.

Regional Laboratory, Textiles Committee — Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, Kolkata. Tested 11–21 September 2026.

  • Banned azo dyesNone found. All 24 banned amines the lab checks for came back under the 30 mg/kg limit. Not detected
  • FormaldehydeNone the test could detect. Not detectable
  • pHClose to neutral; 7 is neutral.7.31
  • Colour and sweatNo fading, and no colour running onto silk or cotton, in acidic or alkaline sweat.5 of 5
  • Colour and rubbingRubbed against white cotton: nothing dry, at most a faint trace wet.5 dry · 4–5 wet

What it adds up to: nothing harmful found, a near-neutral pH, and colour that stays in the silk. That's why we call it skin-friendly.

Grades run from 1 to 5, and 5 is the best a fabric can score. The lab tested a sample of this silk in Wildpetal's colour. Antique White and Hot Pink are the same silk in other colours, so the dye results speak for the colour tested. Reports TC/ST/CEO/282/2026-27 and TC/LC/ST/1008/2026-27, both dated 21 September 2026. Read both reports, and what each result means.

Asked in the forest

The things people actually ask.

Short answers, true ones. If yours isn't here, write to us.

Why is it just one? Others sell packs.

Because it's a different thing. Most packs are polyester “satin”, made on a line by the dozen. Candy Pop is one piece of 100% mulberry satin silk, gathered by hand, cut from the same silk we had lab-tested. One you keep, rather than twelve you lose.

Is it really silk?

Yes — 100% mulberry silk charmeuse. Charmeuse is a satin weave: glossy on one face, matte on the other. Satin is a weave, not a material, and most satin scrunchies are polyester. Ours is spun by silkworms.

Is it skin-friendly? Has the silk been lab-tested?

Yes. The silk was tested in September 2026 by the Regional Laboratory of the Textiles Committee in Kolkata, part of the Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India. No banned azo dyes were found, formaldehyde was not detectable, the pH was 7.31 (close to neutral), and the colour held against sweat (5 of 5) and rubbing (5 dry, 4–5 wet). That's why we call it skin-friendly.

Two honest notes: it's a lab test of the fabric, not a test on skin, and the sample was the silk in Wildpetal's colour. Candy Pop is cut from the same silk; Antique White and Hot Pink are other colours, so the dye results speak for the colour tested. Both reports are on our Lab reports page.

Candy Pop or Candy Dot: which one is mine?

Candy Pop is the big, puffy one: buns, high ponies, thick or curly hair. One loop for thick hair, two for fine. Candy Dot is the thin one: braid ends, low ponies, fine hair and wrists. Same silk, same two colours. Plenty of Creatures keep one of each.

What happens when the elastic gets tired?

Within 180 days of the day we ship your Candy Pop, we replace the elastic for free. Write to us first, post your Candy Pop to us (you cover the way there), and we fit a new elastic and post it home, return shipping on us. About a week, door to door.

You can see how many days are left on each piece any time: sign in with the email you ordered with and open My elastic promise. The promise in full.

How do I wash it?

Hand wash in cool water with a mild soap — no soaking, no wringing. Press the water out in a towel and dry it flat in the shade; sun fades silk.

How long will it take to reach me?

Once it leaves us: about 2 working days to the big metros, 4 to most other cities, 6 everywhere else in India, and 4–5 working days outside India. You can check your own pincode on this page.

Shipping is free across India on orders over ₹499, and it travels in a paper Moosi pouch.

Do you ship outside India?

Yes. We ship to 28 countries, including the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, the UAE, Singapore, Japan and much of Europe. Delivery is tracked and takes 4–5 working days.

It's free on orders over $50 in the US, £45 in the UK, €50 in Europe and US$50 everywhere else; below that, it's $20, £16, €18 or US$20. Prices show in your currency, and checkout charges the same amount in Indian rupees (your bank converts it). If your country charges import duty, it's collected on delivery, not by us.

Can I return or exchange it?

No, and here's the honest reason: it's something that lives in your hair, and passing it on to the next Creature isn't fair to her. So please pick mindfully.

If yours arrives damaged, write to us at moosi.care@gmail.com within 48 hours of delivery, with a short video of the damage (preferred) or a few clear photos, and we'll send a fresh one.

Are the reviews on this page real?

Yes. Every review here comes from someone who bought this piece, and we copy them word for word. To write one on this site you sign in with the email you ordered with, and we read each one before it goes up. We don't hide the lukewarm ones.
