for a feral friday
The Crochet Headband — open, breathable, looped entirely by hand in ivory.
No clasp, no teeth, no elastic waiting to give up. Just a wide crocheted band and two soft ties you knot wherever it sits best. It holds your hair back without leaving a headache behind. for a slow sunday
No piece is ever tried on, sent back and sent out again, so the one that reaches you has never been in anyone else's hair. That's why we can't take returns. If yours arrives damaged, write to us within 48 hours with a short video of the damage (preferred) or a few clear photos, and a new one is on its way. The small print
An elastic headband gets loose, then gets thrown away. Mellow knots — so on a low-bun day it sits behind your ears, on a bandana day it sits back, and on a headache day it sits loose. It fits differently every time, on purpose. The measurements
Mellow is a wide, open-stitch crochet headband in ivory, worked loop by loop on a hook — no machine, no pattern printed on a screen. The band is crocheted first, then the two slim ties are worked straight out of the ends, so there is no join to come undone.
Custom sizes aren't available for Mellow — the ties mean it doesn't need them.
Double-knot for thick hair; a single bow is enough for fine. Tuck the tie ends under the band if you'd rather not see them, or let them hang — both are correct.
Free shipping across India on orders over ₹499. Once it leaves us: about 2 working days to the big metros, 4 working days to most other cities, and 6 working days everywhere else in India.
Outside India, 4–5 working days, tracked. Delivery is free over $50 in the US, £45 in the UK, €50 in Europe and US$50 elsewhere; below that it's $20, £16, €18 or US$20. If your country charges import duty, it's collected on delivery, not by us.
Each piece travels in a paper Moosi pouch. Keep it, gift it, regift it; the pouch doesn't mind.
Crochet likes a gentle life and a flat rest.
A small honest note — because each piece touches your hair and skin, we can't accept returns or exchanges, worn or unworn. Hair things are personal, and re-circulating them isn't fair to the next Creature.
Please pick mindfully — we keep the photos and measurements as honest as we can. If your piece arrives damaged in transit, write to us at moosi.care@gmail.com within 48 hours, with a short video of the damage (preferred) or a few clear photos, and we'll send a fresh one.
Written down plainly, so the price makes as much sense to you as it does to us. Beside it, for honesty's sake: what a machine-knit headband usually is.

Most headbands are a strip of knit fabric cut from a roll. Mellow is built stitch by stitch, which is why the surface has that open, honeycomb look — small gaps that let warmth out instead of trapping it against your scalp.
The yarn is a soft acrylic wool, chosen because it doesn't prickle the way some wools do, it keeps its shape after a wash, and it isn't precious about being stuffed into a bag. It is a made fibre, not a grown one — we'd rather say that out loud than let you find out later.
~ the knot holds it. the band just has to be soft.
The yarn carries OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification — an independent check that every component, right down to the dye, is safe for skin contact. Good news for anyone whose forehead reacts to everything.
There is no line, and there is no machine. One artisan casts on, works every row, ties off the last loop and sets it down finished — about forty-eight minutes later. Which is why no two turn out quite the same, and why we make them in small batches, on purpose.
Soft acrylic wool, OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified. Wound by hand before anything begins.
A foundation chain sets the width — 5.5 cm, counted in stitches, not measured after.
Row after row of open stitch, roughly two thousand loops, each one closed by hand before the next begins.
Both ties are worked straight out of the band's ends — no seam, no join, nothing glued on.
Blocked flat, checked, folded into a paper pouch. Then it travels to you, gently.
The band is wide enough to hold real volume back, and a double knot at the nape takes the strain instead of your hairline.
Crochet has grip that satin doesn't. Tie it gently — the texture does the rest, so nothing has to be pulled tight.
Sits over the curls without flattening them. Knot it loose and your pattern survives the day intact.
The honest hero of the awkward-fringe stage. Push it back, knot it under, forget about it.
Because it ties instead of stretching, Mellow has no single correct position. Move the knot, move the whole look. Nobody has to know it's the same headband three days running.

Every Mellow is one person's forty-eight minutes. The circle sets its own hours, and each of them makes a piece from first loop to last — no production line, no half-finished band handed along. When you take one home, you're carrying a little piece of someone's morning.
We can't let you try it on, so here is the next best thing: the whole headband in numbers, flat and stretched. Hold a measuring tape over your head from ear to ear, over the crown — if that's somewhere near 30 cm, the ties will handle the rest.
30 cm long and 5.5 cm wide when laid flat, easing to about 38 cm as it settles on your head.
14 cm each flat, 18 cm with a gentle pull. Enough to knot, bow, or double-knot under a bun.
Custom sizes aren't available for Mellow. The knot is the adjustment — and it's a better one than a size chart.
~ if it sits in a different place every week, it's working.

Short answers, true ones. If yours isn't here, write to us.
Measure from ear to ear, over the crown. If that's somewhere near 30 cm, it will. The band is 30 cm long flat (about 38 cm once it settles on your head), and each tie adds 14 cm — so the knot does the adjusting. Custom sizes aren't available.
It shouldn't. The yarn is a soft acrylic wool, picked because it doesn't prickle the way some wools do, and it carries OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification — tested for harmful substances. It's a made fibre, not a grown one; we'd rather tell you than let you find out.
There's no elastic and no teeth — it ties. Knot it loose on a headache day and it just sits there. The open crochet lets warmth out instead of trapping it against your scalp.
Yes. It sits over curls without flattening them — knot it loose and your pattern survives the day. On short or growing-out hair, push it back and knot it under.
Hand wash in cool water with a mild soap — no soaking, no wringing. Press the water out in a towel, reshape the band while damp, and dry it flat in the shade. Never on a hanger, or the band will grow.
One artisan with one hook, about 48 minutes from the first loop to the last. No line, no machine — which is why we make them in small batches.
Very close, not identical. Each one is made by hand, so the loops never land in exactly the same place twice — that's the part a machine can't copy. We keep the photos as honest as we can.

No, and here's the honest reason: it's something that lives in your hair, and passing it on to the next Creature isn't fair to her. So please pick mindfully.
